EDITIONS & PRICES
Editions, Pricing & Rumors
GTA 6 has two confirmed prices for console: $79.99 USD for the Standard Edition and $99.99 USD for the Ultimate Edition on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced any official Collector's Edition.
The $150 rumor came from online posts and YouTube videos that took CEO comments about 'entertainment value per hour' out of context, mixing them with fake leaks about a physical collector's box. The real base game price is $79.99.
Both editions include the complete single-player story with Lucia and Jason and full access to GTA Online. The $99.99 Ultimate Edition adds 1 free month of GTA+ ($7.99 value), $1,500,000 in starter online cash, and exclusive car paint and outfits. Note: the Ultimate Edition is digital only, while the Standard Edition is sold both physically and digitally.
Yes. Rockstar has confirmed that a separate Ultimate Edition Upgrade pack will be sold in digital console stores. If you buy the Standard Edition (physical or digital), you can buy the upgrade later without having to buy the game twice.
No official Collector's Edition has been announced. Rockstar is exclusively offering the Standard Edition and Ultimate Edition for launch.
CONSOLES & PC
PS5, Xbox Series X|S & PC Release
GTA 6 will not launch on PC on November 19, 2026. Rockstar is focusing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S first. Based on previous Rockstar games (GTA 5 took 19 months to reach PC, and Red Dead Redemption 2 took 12 months), the PC version is expected around late 2027 or early 2028. PC pricing has not been announced yet.
No. The game costs the exact same on every console: $79.99 for Standard and $99.99 for Ultimate. PS5 Pro graphical improvements are included at no extra cost.
No. Game purchases are tied to your specific console account. Buying the game on PlayStation does not give you access on Xbox, and vice versa.
Yes, the game is fully supported on Xbox Series S for the standard $79.99 price. However, it will run at a lower graphical resolution compared to the more powerful Xbox Series X and PS5 Pro.
BOXES & DISCS
Codes in Box, Discs & Reselling
No. Retail boxes of GTA 6 sold in stores like Amazon, Best Buy, and GameStop contain a paper voucher with a digital download code. There is no game disc inside.
No. Once you enter the download code into your console account, the code is used up forever and cannot be transferred. Stores like GameStop cannot buy back redeemed codes.
GTA 6 will require a high-speed download of around 150GB to 180GB on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. An internet connection is required to download the game, even if you buy the box in a physical store.
Yes. PlayStation download codes only work on an account registered to the same country or region where the code was purchased. Xbox codes also have regional billing restrictions.
PRE-ORDERS & BONUSES
Pre-Orders & Bonus Content
Pre-ordering before November 19, 2026 gives you the Vintage Vice City Pack, which includes: (1) 1955 Vapid Stanier retro cruiser, (2) Vice City Palms car livery, (3) matching 1980s floral outfits for Jason and Lucia, and (4) custom weapon skins.
One free month of GTA+ ($7.99 value) comes with all digital pre-orders placed on the PlayStation Store or Xbox Games Store. Physical boxes bought at retail only include the cosmetic pack.
Pre-loading begins on November 12, 2026 (7 days before launch). If you pre-order digitally, you can download the entire game early so you can play the minute midnight strikes on November 19.
On Xbox, your card is not charged until about 10 days before release, and you can cancel anytime before then. On PlayStation, you pay when you order, but you can request a full refund anytime before the November 12 pre-load date, as long as you haven't started downloading.
ONLINE & EXTRA COSTS
Extra Costs & Online Fees
While total development and marketing costs over more than a decade are estimated to be between $1 billion and $2 billion, $79.99 is simply the new standard industry price for big new console games, matching other major releases.
GTA Online is included free with the game. However, playing multiplayer games on console requires PlayStation Plus on PS5 or Xbox Game Pass Core on Xbox. GTA+ is an optional $7.99 monthly pass for extra perks, but is not required to play.
When you adjust for regular inflation over the past 13 years, GTA 5's $59.99 launch price in 2013 equals about $81.50 in 2026 money. That means GTA 6 at $79.99 is actually slightly cheaper in real terms than GTA 5 was on release day.
